If you read my post yesterday about apple picking at Parlee Farms, you already know fall is my favorite season. Autumn flavors in New England are rich and versatile – if you need some inspiration, check out Food & Wine’s Iconic Fall Flavors. Here are a few perfect recipes for the start of fall:
- Pumpkin Crunch Granola from eat, live, run
- Sugar and Spice Popovers from A Thought for Food
- Pumpkin Banana Bread from Confessions of a Chocoholic
- My Acorn Squash & Lentil Soup (from Jan 2011 – time flies!)
Looking for something to do next Saturday? There’s a hoedown with food and music worth checking out. The event benefits Lovelane, a nonprofit that provides therapeutic horseback riding to children and young adults and, you guessed it, there’s going to be a great food line-up, including Courtney Forrester of Sweet, Andy Husbands of Tremont 647, Phyllis Kaplowitz of Baker’s Best Catering, William Kovel of Catalyst, Geoff Janowski of Blue Ribbon BAR-B-Q, and Jeremy Sewall of Island Creek Oyster Bar. So pretty much bbq, cupcakes, oysters, and creative cuisine for a good cause. More info here.
Have a great weekend!
I love fall, too! Beautiful pictures.
Thanks for visiting!
Thanks for the link love! Yay for fall!
Absolutely! Thank you for the great recipe – I never think to make a cream cheese frosting for bread, but it’s a nice touch that transforms it from a breakfast food (any banana/pumpkin/zucchini bread is good for breakfast in my opinion!) into dessert.
